Academy Standouts: 2020 Summer Week 3

Academy Standouts highlights the players who performed best in the most recent week of NA Academy play. I’ll discuss a few of the most noteworthy players, then list some of the other strong performers below.

Lost, Bot, TSM

Lost and Treatz are the best duo lane in Academy right now. TSM Academy’s 2-0 week against 100 Academy and EG Academy featured big-time carry games from Lost, with big laning stats, damage output, and kill participation.

Both on Kalista and on Ezreal, Lost did everything his team needed him to do. He kept himself safe, followed up plays with damage, and hauled Treatz out of trouble now and then.

TSM have Lost under contract until the end of 2021, and at this pace there’s a good chance they’ll get some value by selling that contract for next year.

Treatz, Support, TSM

I just wrote about Treatz in the context of his play alongside Lost, so I’ll keep things brief here, but his aggression on a pair of hook champions, Thresh and Nautilus, really stood out this week. He created the space Lost needed to carry the games. With a few more weeks like this, Treatz will definitely be contending with the best Supports in the league.

Fudge, Top, Cloud9

If Fudge was a domestic player, rather than an Oceanic import, he would virtually guaranteed an LCS starting spot in 2021. Unfortunately for North America, fitting him into an LCS roster is a bit more difficult than a “local” like Kumo, V1per, or Allorim. Hopefully an org will find a way to bring him up a level, because there isn’t much more he can do to prove he deserves it.
