Academy Standouts: 2020 Summer Week 6

Academy Standouts highlights the players who performed best in the most recent week of NA Academy play. I’ll discuss a few of the most noteworthy players, then list some other strong performers below.

Ablazeolive, Mid, Golden Guardians

With a massive 95.5% kill participation and 830 DPM, Ablazeolive was wreaking havoc all over the map this week in GGA’s wins over IMTA and DIGA. It was very much a “player of the week” pair of showings.

Ablazeolive’s Twisted Fate and Galio both activated well outside of the lane, much more than should have given the LCS-level opponents he faced in Eika and Froggen.

These are the kinds of weeks where you wonder what a player would like with a sustained shot in the LCS. I hope we get to find out.

Prismal, Bot, 100 Thieves

Prismal carried 100A to a win over TLA on Ezreal, after performing very well in a loss to TSMA the day before. He’s a crucial component of his team, and while he’s not going to vie for the “best Bot in Academy” title quite yet, he stands out often enough that he’s worth continuing to keep an eye on.

ZionSpartan, Top, Golden Guardians

GGA don’t play around ZionSpartan at all; they let him do his job and enable success for the rest of the team by freeing up resources to be invested elsewhere. He destroyed his lane matchups this week, playing Gangplank into Soaz’s Cho’gath and Aatrox into V1per’s Sett, and went on to help carry with heavy damage output, as well.
