Academy Standouts: 2021 Spring Week 4

Academy Standouts highlights the players who performed best in the most recent week of NA Academy play. I’ll discuss a few of the most noteworthy players, then list some other strong performers below.

Luger, Bot, 100 Thieves

The 100 Thieves org has been waiting for Luger to get to the US so he could join his team, and he was finally able to join in the action. What an arrival! In two games of Kai’sa he asserted himself in lane, picked up multikills in team fights, and put out over 800 damage per minute.

Luger already faced the Tomo/Dreams and Yeon/Eyla bot lane pairings in his first two games, which are two of the stronger bot lanes in Academy, and he and Poome looked more than ready to match or exceed them. Add in Luger’s team fighting and the strength of the roster around him, and you can see why 100 Thieves are one of the biggest threats to win Proving Grounds later this spring.

Akaadian, Jungle, Dignitas

Akaadian went deathless in both games in week 4, using Nidalee against IMT Academy and Lillia against EG Academy. He gave his solo lanes plenty of attention, landing some big sleeps in team fights as Lillia, and generally reminded everyone that he is still an LCS-quality Jungler waiting for his next opportunity to prove that he can stick in the big league.

Tenacity, Top, 100 Thieves

Tenacity put together arguably his two strongest performances of the year so far, piloting Renekton and Gragas against a pair of Aatroxes. He stood up tall in the team fights, made some plays, and all around showed signs of why he is one of the most highly touted prospects in the Academy system right now.
