TP Mid Supplement: Champion Win Rates With/Without Teleport

In my article about Teleport Mid laners, published today at Unikrn, I explored the win conditions and ideal game plans for using TP Mid in professional play. While the article is fairly thorough, it doesn’t cover every possible angle or complexity that might affect the conversation. Below you’ll find a supplementary table of win rates for different champions when playing with and without Teleport in the Mid lane, to cover one possible alternative explanation for my findings, which is that the stats are mostly measuring the best ways to use Diana and Twisted Fate, rather than the best ways to use TP Mid. That’s a big conversation, and one I’d love to continue in the comments or on Twitter, and hopefully the data below will help.

The table below lists win rates and win/loss records for every champion played with TP in the Mid lane in 3+ games during the 2015 Summer split. Win rates with Mid TP include LPL matches, because the numbers were low enough to allow hand entry, but win rates without TP do not include LPL matches.

TP Mid - Champion win-loss with and without TP

Comments and Notes

Small Sample Sizes
It’s tough to draw any real conclusions about individual champions here, because only two champions have been played 10+ times with TP Mid. Instead, we have to look at champion types/styles, which is why I pointed out in my article that TP Mid is usually carried on champions with assassination potential, dueling, and/or wave clear. Every champion in the table above meets at least two of those criteria except for Morgana, who replaces “assassination potential” with “gank/pick potential”, which should theoretically emphasize her need for early aggressive playmaking even more.

No Hyperscaling Champions
The only champion on this list who could be considered a “scaling” champion is Gangplank, and he has entered the meta so recently that it’s still hard to peg his ideal usage. But Gangplank has a global ultimate, so he is able to play pseudo-aggressively in the side lanes, fulfilling the standard TP Mid win conditions, while still using his TP defensively as well.

There were a few TP Mid games played on Ryze, Orianna, and Azir, but between them, those three champions managed a weak 1-4 record.

Ignite Diana
Mid lane Diana has been far and away the most popular TP Mid, but that doesn’t mean that Teleport is the clear best option to bring on the champion. When using Ignite, Diana’s record this summer (excluding LPL) is 7-1! (She also went 2-2 with Smite during the first days of the Runeglaive enchantment.) The Ignite games came from AHQ westdoor (5-0) and GIANTS’ PePiiNeRO (2-1).

TP Ahri
Ahri’s perfect 3-0 record when carrying Teleport (excluding LPL) is thanks to two games from HKE Toyz and one game from OG xPeke.
