Academy Standouts highlights the players who performed best in the most recent week of NA Academy play. I’ll discuss a few of the most noteworthy standouts, then list some other players whose performances caught my eye below.
Note: For the Spring split, I added amateur play into this article series, but with the change in format where Academy teams are now playing a double round robin of best-of-two series, there are many more games to track, so I will be reverting back to covering only Academy in these articles. That does not mean I am not watching the amateur tournaments, but standout amateur players will be highlighted in other ways, such as the Mobalytics Top Prospects list!
Contractz, Jungle, Evil Geniuses Academy
Contractz played Diana, Nidalee, and two games of Rumble, and his presence on those AP carry champions was… magical.
Yes. I went there.
If we take a look at the man’s stat line from last week, we can see that he posted +1,610 GXD10 across those 4 games.
…Wait, what!?
Contractz Stats
| KDA | KP | GXD10 | DPM | CSPM | |
| Week 1 | 4.7 | 79.2% | +1,610 | 665 | 6.4 |
That kind of jungle diff just isn’t healthy.
Yeon, Bot, Team Liquid Academy
Yeon is the “freshest” face on TL Academy, and he spent the Spring split slowly ramping up and showing signs of strong player but never quite showing enough to stake a claim as one of the top prospects in his Academy.
Well, if his Kai’sa and Xayah games against TSM Academy last week are any sign, he’s preparing to change that storyline and vault himself into the spotlight.
Yeon Stats
| KDA | KP | GXD10 | DPM | CSPM | |
| Week 1 | 11.0 | 58.8% | +289 | 499 | 9.8 |
Yeon did great work resisting pressure from TSMA and punishing their attempts to make plays against his lane, and he did pretty well against CLG Academy in the second series of the week on Sivir and Tristana, too. He was a key reason for TLA’s 4-0 start to the split.
Eyla, Support, Team Liquid
Academy
Yeon’s duo lane partner shared the spotlight with him last week, rocking out on two games each of Nautilus and Leona. His work on dive defenses, engages, and roams was impressive.
There were a few moments of mispositioning on the map where Eyla got caught, but he still managed to gain value from that movement and pressure in a lot of situations.
Eyla Stats
| KDA | KP | DTH% | WPM | WCPM | |
| Week 1 | 8.7 | 64.9% | 17.1% | 1.51 | 0.51 |
Eyla continues to look like one of the most LCS-ready players in the Academy league.
