Academy Standouts: 2022 Spring, Week 4

Academy Standouts highlights the players who performed best in the most recent week of NA Academy play. I’ll discuss a few of the most noteworthy standouts, then list some other players whose performances caught my eye below.

Watch Tim’s picks for Game of the Week:

RoseThorn, Jungle, CLG Academy

RoseThorn extended his strong start to his sophomore year as a pro, leading CLG Academy to a 5-1 super week, posting an 8.4 KDA, 79.3% KP, and +337 GXD10, not to mention 6 First Blood kills or assists in 6 games. He had two huge games on Viego, looking especially dominant in game 2 against Evil Geniuses. He also played Jarvan IV twice as well as Gwen and Volibear. The CLG main team may be struggling, but CLG Academy is doing great and RoseThorn is at the forefront.

Darshan, Top, Cloud9 Academy

After catching non-Academy-watchers’ attention with his play in the Lock-In tournament, Darshan is doing his best to solo kill and split-push his way back into the LCS. He was huge for C9 Academy all week, with about a thousand solo kills and a great show of champion diversity on Fiora, Gwen, Gnar, Sion, and Akali. Great work, Mr. President.

Arrow, Bot, Immortals Academy

Speaking of trying to climb back into the LCS, Arrow had a statement week alongside his support partner Joey. They picked up all kinds of 2v2 kills and received Chad’s ganks well, generating a monstrous +589 GXD10 for Arrow which allowed him to be a stable carry force in the later phases. Arrow’s veterancy and reliability have been a strong point for IMT Academy so far, and I’m sure the Immortals front office is pleased with what they’re seeing from him.
