Academy Standouts highlights the players who performed best in the most recent week of NA Academy play. I’ll discuss a few of the most noteworthy standouts, then list some other players whose performances caught my eye below.
Watch Tim’s picks for Game of the Week:
eXyu, Jungle, Dignitas Academy
DIG Academy jungler eXyu had two absolutely enormous games last week, one on Hecarim against CLG where he went 3 oh and 10 with a series of ganks, counterganks, and engages, and one where he posted 5 oh and 13 as Udyr against FlyQuest with an absolutely brutal series of jungle invasions and a top lane campout. There are a lot of strong Academy junglers, but even though he’s a rookie, eXyu might just be leading the pack.
Yeon, Bot, Team Liquid Academy
Yeon piloted Ezreal three times and Zeri once en route to a 4-0 week for Team Liquid Academy. He powered his team to victory with 33 kills and only 5 deaths in 4 games, while averaging 961 DPM and nearly eleven hundred GXD10. It’s almost impossible to have a more dominant week on the scoreboard than what Yeon put together.
Chime, Support, Golden Guardians Academy
Chime posted another big week of playmaking and versatility. He played Soraka, Tahm Kench, Rakan, and Rell and did a great job of teeing up kills for his carries and creating good scenarios to put Stixxay ahead, like this play where he and Iconic secured a massive freeze that put Stixxay ahead by 30 CS at level 5. It’s not too common for players to drop out of the LCS and earn their way back into the league, but Chime is definitely making a case for himself.
