Academy Standouts: 2021 Summer, Week 14

Academy Standouts highlights the players who performed best in the most recent week of NA Academy play. I’ll discuss a few of the most noteworthy standouts, then list some other players whose performances caught my eye below.

Will, Jungle, Dignitas Academy

Proving Grounds is the best place a player like Will could show up and get himself noticed. As one of NA’s top 5 prospects, he’s playing for his future, and what a future he has if he can continue to develop at this pace.

His 3/0/5 Xin Zhao was followed by a scoreline of 8/2/11 on Trundle, and he did it against a FlyQuest Academy team that has way more competitive experience and a very strong jungler of their own in Nxi.

Every passing day that brings us closer to Will’s contract expiration on November 16 should be another notch up in Dignitas’s intensity of effort to lock him down as a core component of their future.

Jenkins, Top, Team Liquid Academy

Photo of 99322408711949607.pngTeam Liquid Academy’s journeyman top laner continues to make a case for himself as an LCS option in 2022.

It was foolish of Cloud9 Amateur to let him play his signature Kennen twice, and he posted 11 kills in those two games to make sure they regretted it.

Having already won the Academy playoffs, Jenkins is on a mission to to take Proving Grounds as well, and put himself in the best possible position to make a full-time jump into the big leagues next year.

Joey, Support, Immortals Academy

His Sett and Rakan picks worked out really well, with only a single death and double digit assists on each despite serving as primary engage,
