Jungle Hard Carries in the LCS

Dardoch dealt the most damage to champions for Team Liquid in their win against Dignitas earlier today, playing Nidalee and doing 31.2% damage share. That’s the second-highest Jungler damage share seen in the LCS so far in 2016, behind Rush’s 31.7% in Cloud9’s loss to Team Impulse.

Dardoch was just the 5th LCS Jungler to have his team’s highest damage share this year, and just the third to do it in a victory.

Svenskeren and Trick also had their teams’ highest damage, both playing Graves. Rush on Nidalee and Kirei on Graves had their teams’ highest damage, but in losses.

Jungle Carry Kings

Rush had his team’s highest damage share five times in 2015. That included three Evelynn games and two Nidalee games, and four of the five games were wins.

Jankos had the largest LCS Jungler carry performance of 2015 or 2016, with 38.2% damage share on Nidalee while playing Origen in Summer 2015.

Early-Game Objectives in the 2016 Meta

Every League of Legends offseason brings change, as Riot injects fresh ideas into their game. Among the changes introduced for 2016, Riot significantly rebalanced the role of objectives in the early game. They left the Dragon in the same state as 2015, but made sweeping changes to Towers and added a completely new objective in the form of the Rift Herald. More passive gold was also added into the game, making the early game move more quickly.

Common perceptions suggest that the Dragon has decreased in value, that the Rift Herald doesn’t have a clear role, and that Towers have become by far the most important early-game objective. But are those perceptions measurably true?

In the discussion below, I’ll present numbers around each of the three early-game objectives, compared to the 2015 season.

Mid Laner Play Styles in the Early Game

The stats tables below show the average kills+assists, experience gained, and creep score for Mid laners from the NA LCS, EU LCS, and LCK during the 2015 Summer split, including regular season, playoffs, and regional tournaments.

NA Mid laners stats by 15

NA Mids were the least effective at balancing out early combat with farming. Only Cloud9’s Incarnati0n had a reasonably balanced mixture of K+As, XP, and CS.

Bjergsen and FeniX stand out as farming very effectively, but not getting involved in much combat. That’s partly a commentary on the non-aggressive NA LCS meta, but also speaks to how their teams played out the early game as a whole. Compare to Keane and Goldenglue, who were even less involved in combat but couldn’t keep their farming up to compensate.
EU Mids stats by 15In Europe, the standouts are Febiven, nukeduck, and Froggen. All three had decent early aggression, while also keeping up their farming numbers. Meanwhile, xPeke, PowerOfEvil, and Betsy lagged behind in both combat and farm during the first 15 minutes of games.
LCK Mid laners stats by 15

Has anyone ever told you that Faker is an aggressive player? Well… he is. His 1.91 kills+assists at 15 minutes is incredibly high, especially relative to his own region. But Faker still managed to keep his average CS up at 131.7, which would have put him fourth in the NA LCS, though it’s slightly below-average for the LCK. Check out Ggoong, Coco, Easyhoon, and Nagne, as well, for good balance of combat and farming.LMS Mids stats by 15

In the LMS, Maple stands head and shoulders above every other Mid laner in the early game, though westdoor kept his experience gain up and Toyz and Chawy had reasonably balance, as well.
