AC/AM Standouts: 2021 Spring, Week 10

AC/AM Standouts highlights the players who performed best in the most recent week of NA Academy and amateur play. I’ll discuss a few of the most noteworthy standouts, then list some other players whose performances caught my eye below.

NOTE: I am not including the Northern Arena tournament in this article, since it is an off-calendar tournament that is not part of the official Proving Grounds circuit.

Katsurii, Bot, CLG Academy

There haven’t been many good-news stories for CLG Academy this split, but Katsurii did his best to change the narrative on his team during the Nerd Street Power Play. The Oceanic Bot laner has played a ton of Kai’sa this year. AC/AM Standouts highlights the players who performed best in the most recent week of NA Academy and amateur play. I’ll discuss a few of the most noteworthy standouts, then list some other players whose performances caught my eye below.

Shiro, Bot, Evil Geniuses Prodigies

EGP’s bot laner has been holding down a spot in the top 3 NA amateur prospects throughout the year, and his play in the Giant Slayer Gauntlet so far is showing why. He exploded on games of Samira and Kai’sa against Winthrop University, and he outshone Prismal of Golden Guardians Academy in a 2-0 series win, which is no easy task.

GSG 12.7 69.0% +554 636 9.5

The break between the Unified Grand Prix and Giant Slayer Gauntlet seems to be have a good reset for Shiro, whose play had been falling off a little along with his team’s overall performance, and he returned to the Rift with a vengeance this week. Hopefully he can continue to deliver as he faces even stiffer challenges in the remaining rounds of this tournament. Continue reading AC/AM Standouts: 2021 Spring, Week 8
